Three cruises in New York City

Ok, you know that Manhattan is an island, that the city has an incredible skyline, that the Statue of Liberty sits on an island. That is, there is plenty of reason to convince you that when visiting New York City you must enjoy it from the water! I love to do cruises and today I will list all I have done in a complete guide for you to check!

Bateaux –Bateaux is a complete experience: a three-hour boat ride + a freshly prepared dinner + live music. It is Manhattan’s only fully enclosed glass vessel. This is not merely aesthetic information – but a detail that makes your experience even more special, after all, the view from inside the boat becomes even wider and more magical, with a 360-degree view of the iconic city skyline. The boat leaves from Chelsea Piers (23th Street and 11th Ave) and has a sophisticated and elegant environment – so here’s the tip: dress up because you deserve it. Just to give you an idea, on the day we took the cruise there were two wedding couples. Everyone was very well dressed – the suggested dress code is “cocktail” (look for inspiration on Google).

The cruise – When it departs from Chelsea Piers at 7 pm it heads north, passing Midtown and the Empire State Building, and it turns around at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.  From there it heads South around Battery Park where you’ll get up-close views of the Financial District, including One World Trade Center and Battery Park.  Bateaux then heads north up the East River – and you will see Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge with the city skyline in the back.  From the East River, it sails to the Statue of Liberty, and it evens stop for a moment so you can appreciate and take a lot of pics!

Dinner – Bateaux experience includes dinner with an appetizer, the main course, and a dessert, all freshly prepared and with many options to choose from. Remember that before bringing the dishes, they also serve fresh bread with seasoned olive oil, a delight.

Bateaux cruises all year long! So, no matter if you come in winter or summer, you can enjoy it, as the boat is glass-enclosed.

Around Manhattan Brunch Cruise – it is a Classic Harbor Line 2h45 cruise, that departs every Saturday/Sunday, 10 am, from Chelsea Piers – 22th Street. The boat is a motorized yacht, very beautiful, by the way, and very stable. Being a relatively small yacht, it is a more intimate and less crowded tour than the other cruises.  All tables are positioned at the windows so, no matter where you sit, you will have a privileged view. In addition to the enclosed area, with glass windows, there is also the open deck. You can move between the two areas and there is also a bathroom, of course.

The cruise –  the yacht leaves Pier 62, at 22nd Street, heading south, past the west side of Manhattan, through the One World Trade Center and then the Statue of Liberty, where it stops for a few minutes for everyone to appreciate the view and take that special photo, of course. From there, it now returns to the eastern side of Manhattan, up and around the island, past points such as Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Queensboro Bridge. You will see places such as Midtown (Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, UN Building), Long Island City and its iconic Pepsi sign, Roosevelt Island, Upper East Side, Randalls Island, Harlem, and its various bridges, as well as areas of Upper Manhattan and The Bronx. The yacht goes all around the island and continues down the west side, past points like the George Washington Bridge and the Upper West Side.

Menu – It is a brunch served in a buffet. Options include Waffle (fresh fruit, whipped cream and maple syrup); Bagels, (cream cheese); Muffins & bread; smoked salmon; Quiche/Frittata; Sausage; Salad; roasted potatoes; roasted ham; fruits and cookies. Besides the food, you also get coffee or tea + a drink (mimosa, sangria, wine, sparkling, or beer). If you want more drinks, you can purchase them on board – but remember they only accept cards.

Evening Jazz Cruise Aboard Manhattan – it is another Classic Harbor Line 2h cruise, that departs every Sunday and every other Friday, 7 pm, from Chelsea Piers – 22th Street. It is the same boat used for the Brunch cruise.

The cruise –it lasts two hours – the yacht leaves Pier 62, at 22nd Street, heading south, past the west side of Manhattan, through the One World Trade Center, and goes to the eastern side of Manhattan, past points such as Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge. Then, it goes to the Statue of Liberty, where it stops for a few minutes for everyone to appreciate the view and take that special photo, you know. From there, it returns to the pier. It is a very special cruise, since it happens at the sunset!

Música –There is a Live Jazz Trio performance sets throughout the cruise (Usually features a lead sax, keyboard and drums). On this cruise, you may hear anything from classic jazz standards by Gershwin, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, to new renditions of Motown songs, R&B grooves, and hits from today!

Datas – this cruise runs from April to November, usually on Sundays and also on some Fridays.
