A designer handbag is among many women’s purchase dreams. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Givenchy are some of the dream brands of those who would like to have a luxury item like this. And these brands take this concept of luxury for nothing: there is no sale or discount code when buying this type of bag. The only way to find a bargain is by visiting the luxury thrift stores – but in the thrift shops, the variety is usually quite limited. But a few weeks ago, I discovered an incredible store: ReBag. The difference is that it is not a thrift store – it is a store specializing in this niche of luxury preowned handbags.
In fact, ReBag has begun as a niche website – the retail store opened in New York in December, last year. The selection includes over 40 brands: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alaia, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Bvlgari, Celine, Chanel, Chloe, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Givenchy, Goyard, Gucci, Hermes, Jimmy Choo, Judith Leiber, Lanvin, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, M2Malletier, Mansur Gavriel, Mark Cross, Marni, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Nancy Gonzalez, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren Collection, Sacai, Saint Laurent / Yves Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, Stella McCartney, The Row, Thom Browne, Tod’s, Tom Ford, Valentino, and Garavani Versace.
Curation is critical: only bags that show minimal signs of use are accepted, with no major changes in color, strap use, blemishes, and other details that compromise the appearance of the bag. In fact, the curatorship translates into what I saw in the store: everything is perfect. And the selection is vast: there are more than 300 bags available in the store. On the website, this number rises to more than 25k. If the customer wants a bag that is on the website but is not available at the store, it is possible to order with shipment to the store, at no extra cost, within two business days. It’s all original, obviously, because the curatorship is also careful when verifying the authenticity of the bags.
And you must be wondering: what about prices? Well, ReBag staff informed me that the price difference from retail could reach 80%. As you can see on the website, there are items starting at $260 (Louis Vuitton wallet) up to $12,000 (Hermes bag). To get an idea of the ReBag stock – and also the prices – go to the website.
Remember that you can also sell your bag at the store. Check out the guidelines online.
