Financial District, in Downtown, is an area in New York full of history – and full of tourist points of interest. Whether it’s the 9/11 memorial, the classic Wall Street bull, or taking a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, the area always gets into the tourist’s lists. And I know that one of the biggest issues for a lot of people is finding places to eat. Lack of planning and knowledge leads many people to eat at a fast-food chain – which ends up giving the impression that New York only has that kind of option – which is a lie, in my opinion, haha. To help you out, I’ve made this list with 10 suggestions of places to eat in the area, for every budget and taste:

1. GRK Fresh Greek – for fast and cheap eats – It’s a fast-casual restaurant. GRK Fresh Greek serves Greek/Mediterranean food and I like to highlight two options: the pita sandwich, wrap style, where you choose a protein, a sauce + tomato and onion; and also the plate, which includes a protein, two sides, bread, and sauce. These options cost between $9 and $13, depending on the protein you choose (there are vegetarian options!). The food is delicious, full of flavor and the portions are generous.

2. Manhatta – for a special lunch/dinner – this restaurant combines breathtaking views with a menu from chef Jason Pfeifer, offering seasonal options inspired by French flavors. Manhatta is on the 60th floor of a building located in Downtown, at Liberty Street. Its prime location on a high floor and its expansive windows provide magnificent views of the city, overlooking the east, west, and midtown – for you to have an idea, you can spot the Empire State, Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan Bridge. The view is very similar to that from the One World Observatory. Options:
- From Monday to Friday, from 11h30 am to 2 pm, they offer a la carte menu. Prices start at $26.
- On weekends, at lunch, from 11h30 am to 2 pm, they offer a price fixed menu with three courses for $78.
- Every day, from 5 pm to 9h30 pm (and until 10 pm from Thursday to Saturday), they offer a price fixed as well for $94

3. Keste – for a delicious and traditional pizza at a great price – Kesté offers the authentic tradition of the art of Neapolitan pizza making and its owned by world-renowned Maestro Roberto Caporuscio. If you wanna have an idea, the many accolades for Kesté include “#1 Pizza in New York” by New York Magazine, “Best Pizza” in the State of NY by Food Network Magazine, among the top 25 “Best Pizza Places in the US” by Food and Wine Magazine and 5 of “The Most Authentic Pizzas Outside Italy” (the only one in the US) by Mr Porter. With so many awards, it’s not surprising that they have 3 locations in the city. Kesté Pizza & Vino offers over 70 types of Neapolitan pizzas, and prices start at $9!

4. Felice – if you love pasta – Felice has some locations around the city and I consider it a great spot for a more romantic dinner. The place is so charming, perfect for a special occasion! The food is simply fantastic. For reference, pasta dishes start at $20. It is worth mentioning that Felice offers lunch with a fixed price for $29 (appetizer, main, and dessert) from Monday to Friday!

5. The Fulton – if you love seafood – located at the brand new Pier 17. Under the direction of the world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, it is the chef’s first restaurant focused on seafood. It has a super sophisticated atmosphere – plus the incredible view of the East River and the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and brunch, and the menu includes various fish and seafood dishes. Seafood dishes are usually more expensive on average, and here they cost from $21 to $42. 6. The Oyster House At Pier A – for a happy hour during Summer – Located where Battery Park meets the Hudson River, Pier A Harbor House is a 28,000-square foot, multi-experiential food and beverage destination with Manhattan’s finest sunsets and water views. Pier A is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a designated New York City landmark. Opening in 1886 as the headquarters for the New York Harbor Police and Department of Docks, Pier A later served as the VIP entrance for European Ambassadors traveling to Ellis Island and as the main station for the Marine Division of the New York City Fire Department. he ground floor is home to The Oyster House at Pier A which is inspired by the old oyster houses of New York and the fish market traditions of Lower Manhattan. A free-flowing space designed for convivial eating and drinking, surrounded by a promenade with tables for outdoor dining.

7. Cobble & Co. – if you love beers – perfect place for burgers, fries, and other American food options – and for a happy hour at the end of the day! Plus, it is located in the South Street Seaport, a perfect place for a walk – for me, it has some European vibe, you know?

8. Stone Street – for a happy hour / European vibe – Stone Street is full of bars and pubs, and during the summer, people often hang out at street tables for a drink or a beer. Some say it was the first paved street in NYC. In addition, the architecture of the buildings makes the street a very charming place! There are several bars and restaurants and I highlight Adrienne’s Pizzabar, with classic pizzas!

9. Hudson Eats – for fast and cheap eats – this is the Brookfield Place’s food court – a place that can’t be missed if you are in downtown. There are many options, from salad bar, sushi, Mexican food, burgers, sandwiches, and more. It is on the second level of Brookfield Place and has several seating tables and beautiful views of the Hudson River.

10. El Vez and Burrito Bar – if you like Mexican food – great atmosphere and the classics from the Mexican cuisine: guacamole, tacos, burritos, and other delights. It’s good for a happy hour, lunch or dinner. Delicious and well-prepared food. The price of the main courses averages $16.
