Being happy in Porto Alegre 🇧🇷 Besides recon

Being happy in Porto Alegre 🇧🇷 Besides reconnecting with my amazing friend, I had time to explore this city in southern Brazil and I was positively surprised with the dining scene. Here are some recs:

- Cafe & Prosa - this outdoor restaurant offers fresh food and some pastries. Love the salad and the jackfruit sandwich. Plus there is a plant shop attached.

- Bella Caffetteria - outdoor coffee shop, by the water, amazing spot for a brunch.

- Wills Cais - this bar & restaurant is inspired by Williamsburg NYC how cool is that? We love the drinks and the food!

Sendo feliz em POA 🇧🇷 Além de reencontrar minha amiga querida @analu_mf (quem acompanha o podcast já sabe quem é) também aproveitei pra explorar a cena gastronômica da cidade. Aqui vão algumas recomendações:

- Café & Prosa - restaurante com mesinhas na rua e um menu simples e delicioso. Amei a salada e o sanduíche de carne de jaca.

- Bella Caffetteria - amei esse café com muita natureza, perto da água. Ótimo pra um brunch.

- Wills Cais - esse bar e restaurante foi inspirado em Williamsburg, bairro descolado de NYC. Achei tão massa isso! A comida e drinks estavam mara.

Claro que não faltou uma visita ao Zaffari né ❤️ 🥲

Curiosidade: Eu sou catarinense, mas Thiago morou em POA entre 2012 e 2013 e nossos planos originais eram eu me mudar pra capital gaúcha no final de 2013. Mas aí NYC aconteceu…

2022 is here, but I think we can still talk about recaps right? These are the products that got a lot of engagement in 2021 when I shared them on my stories. I received a lot of shares, clicks and responses when I featured these products:

- Marc Anthony Strictly Curls - this is a great and affordable cream to define waves!

- Revlon One Step hair dryer - a game changer, a lifesaver. So easy to blow dry your hair using this!

- Fake Translucent tights - the response from these tights was insane. They look like the ones you can see it through but it is fake.

- Camel coat from Aritzia - one of my favorite coats! People always ask me about it. Sold out. But I have some suggestions on my “outfits” highlights.

- Joroto exercise bike - a great affordable option if you are not willing to spend your money on a Peloton.

🇧🇷 2022 já chegou, mas acho que ainda dá pra falar de retrospectiva né? Esses são os produtos que mais bombaram no meu Insta em 2021 quando mostrei eles nos stories. Chuva de shares, cliques e mensagens - e achei que valia o recap:

- Revlon One Step hair dryer - eu não sei como passei tanto tempo sem essa escova secadora, quebra um super galho.

- Fake Translucent tights - a resposta de vocês quando mostrei essa meias foi loucura. Ela parece ser transparente mas não é.

- Casaco caramelo Aritzia - um dos meus casacos favoritos, sempre recebo perguntas - tá esgotado, mas tem opções nos destaques “Outfits”.

- Joroto exercise bike - uma opção mais acessível de bike caso você não queira investir numa Peloton.

January 3rd is always a special date to me: it’s

January 3rd is always a special date to me: it’s our moving to NYC anniversary - 8y! - and I always reflect on that. Today, we are in 🇧🇷 after 2y without coming here. And I always think about how these visits. It's not a tourism or vacation trip (it can def be). It's an experience that only those ones that live abroad will get it. For me, it means a lot of feelings, cause it brings so many memories, memories from a place where you used to live - and maybe it was another life, cause living abroad changes you forever - if you are willing to change. It's meeting people that are important to you, people the distance will never separate you from. In some way, it is finding yourself with two hearts. It's missing the place that it is your home now, where you will be back soon - and at the same time feeling so comfortable with the place you used to live in.

It’s about a lot of feelings and info that only those who live abroad can get it. I love living in NYC - but 🇧🇷 has a lot of me and there’s no way to avoid that, even knowing that I’m not the same one I was 8y ago.

🇧🇷 3 de janeiro é uma data especial: é o “aniversário” da nossa mudança pra NYC - 8 anos! - e sempre reflito sobre isso. Desta vez, estamos no 🇧🇷 - depois de 2 anos. E sempre me pego pensando como essas viagens pra cá são únicas. Não é necessariamente uma viagem de férias ou turismo (claro que pode tbm ser). É uma experiência que só quem mora fora vivencia. Pra mim, é um turbilhão de sentimentos, já que muitas memórias vêm à tona. Memórias de um lugar onde você viveu uma boa parte de sua vida - talvez uma outra vida, já que, se você estiver aberto, morar fora pode te transformar para sempre. É rever pessoas importantes pra vc, pessoas que a distância nunca vai separar. É, de certa forma, se ver com 2 corações. É sentir saudade daquele lugar que agora é a sua casa e pra onde vc vai voltar em breve - e ao mesmo tempo se sentir tão familiar com esse lugar do seu passado.

É um mix de informações e sensações que só quem mora fora entende. Eu amo morar em NYC - mas o 🇧🇷 guarda muito de mim e não tem como ñ me sentir reflexiva - mesmo que a Laura de hj não seja mais a Laura de 8 anos atrás.

Thank you for all the kind messages about Thiago’s covid test - and our plans being cancelled right before Christmas. He is finally negative (he has tested twice) and we are traveling to Brazil tonight! I can’t believe I’m gonna see my family and friends after 2 years!

If you are traveling, be safe! Have a plan B and C, you never know what can go wrong.

🇧🇷 Obrigada a todo mundo pelas mensagens carinhosas sobre o Thiago ter testado positivo pra covid - e nossa viagem cancelada antes do Natal. Ele finalmente testou negativo e estamos viajando hoje para o Brasil. Nem acredito que vamos ver a família e amigos depois de 2 anos!

Se você vai viajar, cuide-se! E tenha planos B e C. A gente nunca sabe o que pode acontecer.. prepare a paciência. Remarcar essa viagem nos consumiu muitas horas e muita energia - e um pequeno prejuízo financeiro. Nem todas as cias aéreas estão 100% flexíveis.
